Nicklas Lidstrom Signs 1 Year with Red Wings

Retiring rumors ended in the 2011-2012 NHL offseason, when Nicklas Lidstrom agreed to a one year deal with the Detroit Red Wings to return for a 20th season. The contract is worth $6.2 million. Lidstrom had another Norris quality season putting up 16 goals and 46 assists in 82 games played for the Red Wings last season and was effective in the playoffs as well.

The 6 time Norris winner and 4 time Stanley Cup champion has accomplished alot during his career and is looking to win his 7th Norris at the NHL Awards in Las Vegas. Zdeno Chara and Shea Weber are the other Norris finalists. I am glad to see him returning and he is well worth the payment. He has the highest plus-minus rating +429 of all active NHL players.
