Trade rumors continue to surround the Los Angeles Kings and their top defenceman, Drew Doughty, for the 2011-2012 NHL season. The LA Kings recently dumped over $6 million in salary when they traded Ryan Smyth to the Edmonton Oilers.

LA Kings have enough cap space to easily sign Doughty, however, they feel his play dropped off considerably last season. Doughty who is 21 years old is looking for around $7 million per year. He is a restricted free agent on July 1st and is free to accept offer sheets from other teams.

The LA Kings can let Doughty walk and receive 3 or 4 first round draft picks. Or they can choose to match any offer. The Minnesota Wild, New York Islanders and Edmonton Oilers are considering to make an offer for Doughty.
