Mike Ribeiro of the Washington Capitals is the top center available leading up to the 2013 NHL Trade Deadline. He is having a fantastic year with his new team, accumulating 35 points in 33 games played. His $5 million cap hit contract is expiring and he is going to be an unrestricted free agent. The 33 year old is looking for a long term big money contract.

Ribeiro rejected a 3 year deal from the Capitals, claiming that he wants to stay. GM George McPhee is in a difficult predicament because Ribeiro has all the power as a UFA. He can easily get the 5-6 year term that he wants. Look for the Washington Capitals to sign Mike Ribeiro soon or trade him away if a deal cannot be reached.
