Dan Girardi of the New York Rangers is looking for a change of scenery as he approaches free agency. According to his agent, "You have to consider cost of living in New York — 55 percent of every dollar isn’t theirs."

Girardi who is 29 years old is a top pairing defenceman and is coming off an annual cap hit contract of $3.33 million.
The latest NHL rumours say he is looking for a 6 year deal worth $5.5 million per season. The Boston Bruins are seeking help on the blue line after a season ending injury to Dennis Seidenberg.

The Bruins have $1.55 million in cap space and have to trade a player with significant salary in order to acquire Girardi. The Anaheim Ducks and San Jose Sharks are also interested in Dan Girardi. Look for big trades to occur after the Olympic trade freeze is lifted on February 23, 2014.
