The Philadelphia Flyers traded Scott Hartnell to the Columbus Blue Jackets for R.J. Umberger and a fourth round pick in the 2015 NHL Draft.

Hartnell scored 20 goals and 52 points in 78 games last season. The 32 year old left winger has a contract with a cap hit of $4.75 million through the 2018-19 season. Umberger had 18 goals and 34 points in 74 games last season. The 32 year old left winger has a contract with a cap hit of $4.6 million through the 2016-17 season.

Hartnell is a tough, big forward who brings great leadership qualities. Umberger is a good penalty killer who is versatile. The Blue Jackets win the trade because Hartnell brings more size and production.
