Lars Eller, Nathan Beaulieu for Nail Yakupov, Jeff Petry

The Montreal Canadiens and the Edmonton Oilers are in trade talks. Montreal is offering C Lars Eller and D Nathan Beaulieu for Edmonton's RW Nail Yakupov and D Jeff Petry.

Yakupov was a first overall draft pick in 2012 that does not mesh well with the Oilers makeup of skilled wingers. He has struggled offensively and defensively. The Oilers are looking to acquire a #2 Centre and believe Eller may fit that role. The Canadiens are gambling that Yakupov's offense will increase when he is reunited with his junior teammate Alex Galchenyuk. The Habs believe this duo could provide a dangerous scoring second line.
