Mike Richards to Ottawa Senators

The LA Kings are attempting to trade veteran center Mike Richards. Richards has six years left on his deal with an average annual cap hit of $5.75 million. He was the subject of buyout speculation in the summer.

The 29 year old is a decent hockey player who still kills penalties and plays on the power play. He has scored 7 points in 15 games this season. With Anze Kopitar, Jeff Carter, and Jarret Stoll as the Kings top three centers, Richards is stuck on the fourth line, making first line dollars. His average time on ice is the lowest since his rookie campaign.

The Kings are up against the salary cap and are looking for relief by moving Richards. The problem is that not many teams can afford to take on Richards with his big contract. The Edmonton Oilers, Detroit Red Wings, Toronto Maple Leafs and Ottawa Senators are interested in acquiring Mike Richards, who holds a no trade clause.
