Andong Song becomes first Chinese player drafted to NHL

On Saturday, Andong Song became the first Chinese player to get drafted in the NHL. The New York Islanders selected him with the 172nd pick overall in the sixth round.

Song moved to Ontario from Beijing at age 10. He was the captain of China at the U-18 division II World Championship. He is currently playing in a prep school in New Jersey.

Song can play as a forward and a defenseman. At 6’1” and 194 lbs, he has the size to play in the NHL.
