Top College Free Agent to sign with Minnesota Wild


Mike Reilly, the ex-Golden Gopher, has chosen to sign with the Minnesota Wild. The four teams that were in the running for the top college free agent were the Chicago Blackhawks, Pittsburgh Penguins, Los Angeles Kings, and the Minnesota Wild. He met with 10 teams at the recent combine.

Reilly elected not to sign with the Columbus Blue Jackets, which drafted him in the 4th round of the 2011 NHL entry draft. He is expected to sign a 2 year, $1.85 million contract. The 22 year old scored 18 goals and 89 points in 117 games over 3 years with the Gophers. He also led NCAA defenseman in scoring with 42 points in his Junior year. He earned the First Team All-America and Big Ten honors for the second year in a row.
