Dallas Stars graphic designer killed in crash

A young couple died early Sunday after a drunken driver ran a red light and hit another vehicle in Far North Dallas, police said.

Two people on their way to the airport for a trip to France were hit and killed by a suspected drunk driver in Dallas early Sunday morning. The suspected drunk driver is in critical condition and under arrest for two counts of intoxication manslaughter. Police say 23-year-old Promise Hamilton and her boyfriend, 26-year-old Luis Solano, were on their way to DFW International Airport when the accident happened.

The drunken driver was traveling east on Frankford Road about 4:30 a.m. and hit the victims at Dallas Parkway as they were turning left onto Frankford causing them to strike a pole, police said. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

Hamilton was working as a graphic designer for the Dallas Stars at the time and was going overseas to study art to advance in her career. Solano was one semester away from graduation with a degree in aerospace engineering at UT Arlington.

Hamilton's uncle showed up to the crash site to carve her and Luis' name in a tree. Stating that he wants people to see their names before they think of drinking and driving.
