Toronto Maple Leafs fans gave John Tavares a standing ovation as the team prepare to host the Buffalo Sabres

Scotiabank Arena in Toronto erupted Saturday night as the Toronto Maple Leafs fans gave John Tavares a standing ovation after he and the team returned from Long Island where things were rough for the former Islander.

When Tavares and the Maple Leafs were in Long Island to play against the New York Islanders, Isles fans were bitter about him leaving the franchise for Toronto via free agency last summer and booed and threw plastic snakes at the number 91. Have a look as Scotiabank Arena erupts:
Toronto once again proves why Tavares chose to go back home last summer. The fans absolutely blew the roof off the arena, and this is why hockey is one of the best major league sports.
