Report: Jeff Skinner and Buffalo extremely close to a new contract

According to Jeremy White of WGR, the Buffalo Sabres and pending unrestricted free agent Jeff Skinner are very close to a contract extension.

According to White, Skinner will likely be getting an 8-year extension with an average annual value of between $6-8 million. At the moment, White reports that the two parties are only 750,000 to a million apart per year.

The Sabres are the only team that can offer Skinner 8-years while other organizations can only offer 7-years. White reports that while Skinner wants an 8-year extension, he could receive a 7-year extension with the same value. Saying that an 8-year extension is $8,25 million per year, that the Sabres could offer a 7-year extension worth $9,4 million per year.

What do you think the terms of the contract will be if Skinner agrees to re-sign with Buffalo?
