Vancouver GM Jim Benning rips Jonathan Dahlen

A lot of Vancouver fans have criticized Vancouver general manager for trading Jonathan Dahlen to the San Jose Sharks for Linus Karlsson at the trade deadline. And he has broken his silence surrounding as to why he traded Elias Pettersson's friend.

A lot of criticism has came Benning's way on the trade deadline when news broke that he had traded Elias Pettersson's friend, Jonathan Dahlen. It was later revealed that Dahlen requested a trade due to not being in the NHL.
I find sometimes young players now, sometimes they don't want to pay their dues in development time. They just want an NHL opportunity off the start. We just felt there was development left before that, and I guess that's where the discrepancy was, Benning stated while he was on TSN Radio Vancouver.
According to Dahlen's agent, Dahlen wasn't happy by the way he was being developed by the franchise, and is fine with the trade.
There was frustration with the way he was being developed but they wanted to see more from him. It goes both ways. He's fine with this, his agent JP Barry stated during a press conference.
In 52 AHL games with the Utica Comets, the 21-year old has scored 31 points and now has 3 points in 3 games with the San Jose Barracuda since being traded.

Linus Karlsson however hasn't made the North American jump yet and remains in Sweden. He has scored 18 points in 63 games with the Karlskrona HK of the SHL and 54 points in 41 games with Karlskrona HK J20 of the SuperElit.
