Rumor: Jordan Eberle to hit the free agent market

Jordan Eberle will be shopping for a new home this summer. The New York Islanders have signed centre, Brock Nelson to a 6 year 6 million dollar deal and will now shift their focus to free agents, Anders Lee and Robin Lehner. Talks with Lee have been ongoing in a positive direction and contract discussions with Lehner has just begun.

David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period and Sirius XMNHL believes that Jordan Eberle will now hit the open market with the singing of Nelson and the Islanders putting their focus towards their captain and one of the best goalies they've had in years.

Eberle put up solid numbers in his first season with the Islanders with 25 goals and 34 assists in 81 games. He had a drop off this past season with a slow start that led to 19 goals and 18 assists in 79 games. Eberle caught fire in the post season with 9 points in 8 games but it looks like it wont be enough to warrant a contract with the Islanders.

Eberle will be 29 at the start of the 2019/2020 season and is still a very good player in the league. The 5 time 50+ point producer has earned 6 million a season since the 2013 season and will be looking around that number. Teams that will show interest in Eberle could include, the Colorado Avalanche, Nashville Predators and the Calgary Flames as Eberle has been known to spend his off-seasons in Calgary.

Where will Jordan Eberle land once free agency opens on July 1st? Or will the Islanders change their mind and re-sign him?
