Report: Leafs threaten Marner with trade if he doesn't re-sign

According to TVA Sports Renaud Lavoie, the Toronto Maple Leafs could threaten restricted free agent Mitch Marner with a trade if he doesn't sign a team-friendly contract before the NHL Entry Draft.

In reality, Marner has no power, Lavoie stated on Friday. The Leafs could get angry and tell Marner "If you do not sign a contract with us by the beginning of the draft, we are trading you." If that does happen, you can't control your destiny and could end up in a market you don't want to be.
According to reports, Marner is seeking roughly around $11.6 million per year on his next contract. The Maple Leafs have $9 million in available space, which could put them in a predicament in signing Marner, Kapanen and Johnsson.
