BREAKING: Kevin Shattenkirk Bought Out By New York Rangers

As the New York Rangers's second buyout window comes to a close, the team parts ways with one of their veteran defence-men.
It has been reported that Kevin Shattenkirk had been bought out by the Rangers, in an effort to generate enough cap space for RFAs Brandon Lemieux and Tony DeAngelo.

Shattenkirk had a cap hit of 6.65 million dollars for the next two seasons, however the Rangers will now be saddled with a buyout penalty that looks like this:

2019-20: $1.483 million
2020-21: $6.083 million
2021-22: $1.433 million
2022-23: $1.433 million

Shattenkirk was considered to be the top UFA of the 2017, but has not performed as expected since signing with the Rangers. The 30-year old scored 7 goals and 51 points in 119 games over the past two seasons with New York.
