After receiving a racist comment on his most recent Instagram post, Sharks forward Evander Kane took to twitter to address racism in America and in hockey.
After posting an image on his Instagram counting down the days until the Sharks opening game, one Instagram user made a comment that proves that racism still exists in hockey and in the US.
Kane then took to Instagram and Twitter to address this comment.
No matter your opinions on Evander Kane comments like these do not belong in society, let alone hockey. Hockey is a sport for everyone, no matter your race, gender, sexual orientation, etc. The NHL is always pushing these ideals with programs such as the Hockey is for Everyone campaign. Kane is the perfect example of handling this situation perfectly, using it as a lesson and making a statement about the current state of racism.
