Rumor: Buffalo sends mega-offer to Winnipeg for Patrik Laine

The Winnipeg Jets are in a vulnerable position as recently aspects of their team have been crumbling at the seams, and along with the New Jersey Devils, the Buffalo Sabres are trying to do their best to help the cause.

According to sources connected to the Jets, the team has received a substantial offer from the Buffalo Sabres for Patrik Laine.

The offer includes RHD Rasmus Ristolainen, forward Conor Sheary, and two first-round picks. The deal would be contingent on an obvious extension which Laine continues to skate in Switzerland waiting for. Laine's focus continues to be on a long term extension in the NHL, which doesn't necessarily mean with the Jets.

For the Sabres, with the additions of Brandon Montour and Colin Miller along with the arrival of Rasmus Dahlin, Ristolainen has become expendable and turning him into someone with Patrik's Laine potential has the Buffalo management group licking their lips.

For the Jets, with the waiting game currently be played with Dustin Byfuglien, there could be a massive hole on the right side of the defense. Trading Laine for a top-2 RHD would be priority #1 if 'Big Buff' calls it a career.

A lot of variables involved with this deal, the waiting game continues in Winnipeg...
