NHLTR: Colorado Avalanche trying to pull off blockbuster trade

The Colorado Avalanche are battling the injury bug, which has taken a hugr bite out of their star power up front. The team is struggling without Gabriel Landeskog and Mikko Rantanen and according to TSN's Pierre LeBrun, he sees the Av's going after a big fish in any upcoming trade.

Colorado has the cap space and future space to be able to add a big name, so chatter around the league indicates that GM, Joe Sakic has been working the phones offering the teams' first round pick and along with prospects considered to be in the team's top-10.

Names that have been linked to Colorado include the Kings' Tyler Toffoli and Alec Martinez, the Blue Jackets' Cam Atkinson, and Anthony Mantha of the Detroit Red Wings.

Keep an eye on the Avalanche as their management team doesn't want to allow injuries to de-rail their playoff hopes this season as there are mile high expectations in Colorado.
