Rumor: Jason Spezza wants out of Toronto

Jason Spezza is from Toronto and 'came home' to try and win a Cup as a Maple Leaf, and the relationship has been rocky for weeks. According to multiple sources in contact with the Maple Leafs, Jason Spezza has 'requested' GM, Kyle Dubas to consider moving on from him.

Spezza has been a regular scratch for the Maple Leafs, even when the team was missing John Tavares for several weeks.

The 36-year-old Spezza was expecting a limited role on the Maple Leafs 4th line and 2nd PowerPlay unit, however, ever since coach Babcock mentioned in training camp, the Leafs were feeling the relationship out to see how interested the team was, it's been a rocky road for everyone involved.

The Maple Leafs continue to work the phones on multiple deals including depth forwards and defencemen to free up space for when Zach Hyman returns from injury and it appears now they have Spezza's request to worry about.
