NHLTR: Kings and Penguins talking huge trade including Matt Murray

The Pittsburgh Penguins are getting closer to finding some forward help and it turns out searching the trade market has it's benefits. GM, Jim Rutherford has been busy sending out feelers, and according to sources connected to the LA Kings, the two teams have discussed the framework of a blockbuster deal.

The hold up is tied around the retained salary the Kings are willing to agree to, as LA is looking to send multiple players to the Penguins in return for goaltender Matt Murray and future considerations.

The Penguins have zoned in on forwards Tyler Toffoli and Trevor Lewis, while also discussing goaltender Jonathan Quick. Again, it comes down to how much salary the Kings are willing to eat, as it's believed the Pens won't accept Quick in the deal unless roughly $1.5-2 million is retained. The Penguins are open to including Alex Galchenyuk in the deal to make the money work, and have interest in signing Toffoli long-term.

Along with Murray, the Kings are believed to be interested in one of Pens' prospects, Pierre-Olivier Joseph and Calen Addison.

Keep and eye on the Kings and the Penguins as we approach the trade deadline. Both teams will be very active and it appears their dance partner could be staring them right in the face.
