NHLTR: Sharks receive new offer from Maple Leafs

The San Jose Sharks owner recently came out with a vote of confidence for his GM, Doug Wilson, and solidified his job for next season. The Sharks find themselves on the outside looking in, and are open to moving some pieces to upgrade for next year. They've held talks with the Maple Leafs, and these talks are starting to work themselves into quite the deal.

The Leafs have sent the Sharks an offer which is believed to include defenseman, Cody Ceci, and prospects Jeremy Bracco and Nic Petan. The Leafs would receive rugged d-man, Brenden Dillon and ex-Leaf, Patrick Marleau in return.

Marleau was an integral part in the development of Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner and is much like a father figure to the two. He's been inconsistent in his return to the ice this year, however, the Leafs would be looking for him to fill out their bottom 6 and 2nd PP unit.

Meanwhile, Dillon would be exactly what the doctor ordered for the Leafs blue line, someone who is physical, and isn't afraid to drop the mitts if needed.

The Sharks have received numerous offers for Dillon, so look for them to hold on to their asset closer to the trade deadline to maximize their return.

The Leafs on the other hand, currently find themselves outside of a playoff spot, and are quickly becoming the busiest team on the phone lines.
