Rumor: Ryan Getzlaf to the Edmonton Oilers in massive deal

The Anaheim Ducks find themselves at the bottom of the west standings, and have held internal discussions about kick-starting their rebuild by asking Ryan Getzlaf if he's willing to be moved. No decision has been made on that front as of yet, but if Getzlaf decides he's open to it, expect the Edmonton Oilers to come calling.

The Oilers are looking to upgrade their offence around their big-2 and Getzlaf could be the perfect short-term addition.

The deal would include Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and a package of prospects to the Ducks, as the Oilers would need to send RNH to California, not only to facilitate the deal, but to also fit Getzlaf under their cap for next season. Getzlaf's contract runs until the end of the next year, at just over $8 million. The parameters of the deal could change, should the Ducks be willing to eat roughly $2million of Getzlaf's final year.

Keep an eye on these two teams as they head in opposite directions.
