Rumor: Bruins To Acquire Joe Thornton

Joe Thornton is nearing the 1500 point milestone with 1497 total career points. He is arguably the best player in San Jose Sharks franchise history, and may be the best play-maker of his generation. He was drafted 1st overall in 1997 by the Boston Bruins, and it seems as if he's "going home" to win a Stanley Cup. He has accomplished so much during his career, but he has yet to win the game's most coveted hardware.

Ray Bourque comes to mind when we hear that 'Jumbo' Joe may be on his way to a cup contender. Borque was a super-star player with the Boston Bruins, and was dealt to the Colorado Avalanche in 2001, where he won the Stanley Cup and retired in the same night.

Joe Thornton is likely to be traded at the deadline for a chance to win the Stanley Cup before his career comes to an end. Brian Ricks of Mercury News has stated that the decision will ultimately lie with Thornton as he has a full no-move clause, but this could be win-win deal for Boston and San Jose. Thornton is believed to be traded to the Bruins in exchange for a 2nd round pick in the 2020 NHL draft.
