Video: Something Special Just Happened On A Rink In Newfoundland

If you were one of the lucky few in attendance at Capital Hyundai Arena in St. John's, NL, on Friday night, you were treated to an extra special Rec league hockey game.

Cassy Young & Jenelle Rogers have both played hockey at a high level their entire lives. Cassy (25) who started playing the game at age 7, evolved to play AAA hockey and even played in the Czech Challenge Cup in the Czech Republic as the only Newfoundlander on a Canadian/USA squad of university players. Jenelle (26) started playing when she was just 5 years old. Her love for the game eventually brought her to play four years of hockey for the Saint Mary's University Huskies.

Back in 2018, the two ladies met at a hockey tournament at Capital Hyundai Arena. Now, fast forward to 2020, on that same ice surface where the ladies routinely play rec hockey with friends.

For Jenelle, this was just another Friday night of mixed jerseys and good laughs. Casey on the other hand, had something very special planned.

If you haven't guess it by now, the gloves came off!!!



At center ice, Cassy dropped to one knee and popped the question.

In what may be my favourite part of this story. Jenelle got a ring and a puck!

Unbeknownst to Jenelle, their families were even hidden behind the boards to share in this happy moment with the couple. Even their dogs, Blaze (Husky) and Nacho (Bernese puppy) were snuck into the arena to share in the moment.
