Rumor: Chris Kreider heading to the Avalanche

The Colorado Avalanche were recently given news that centre Nazem Kadri will miss some time due to injury and the team has decided to ramp up their efforts to find a replacement.

According to sources connected to the Avs, the team has held several trade calls with the New York Rangers and are finalizing an offer for the biggest rental on the market, Chris Kreider.

The Avs, as it's been reported, are willing to move a prospect or two to make it happen, as their core is locked in under contract and young as it is, so there's naturally going to be some really good prospects who never get a fair share. Names like Shane Bowers, Josh Dickinson, and Travis Barron have been mentioned.

The Avs are reluctant to include their first round pick next season, as they are already missing their first rounder in June's draft. Perhaps two top prospects along with a couple 2nd round picks could do the trick. Look for the team to try and get creative and for Rob Blake to go all-in in his efforts to land Kreider from the Rangers.

The Rangers on the other hand, haven't ruled out keeping Kreider long-term. The next 9 days are going to be fun!
