Rumor: Devils moving PK Subban; 3 possible destinations

The New Jersey Devils continue to play in a world of flux, as the team never met expectations this season. Changes have been made both on and off the ice and more are coming. To what extent, continues to be monitored across the league.

According to sources connected to New Jersey, the team continues to field calls on underachieving PK Subban. The polarizing defenseman hasn't fit in New Jersey as the team hoped.

Trades continue to be negotiated and it appears the sticking point for other clubs is how much of the $9 million dollar AAV the Devils are willing to retain. The more they eat, the better the package, it's a catch 22 for a team trying to improve for next season, while continuing to have cap flexibility moving forwad.

3 teams to watch:

1. Columbus Blue Jackets - one of the hottest teams in the league thanks to 'King Elvis' was given horrible news this week with the loss of Seth Jones for the year. PK Subban would help fill the void.

2. Winnipeg Jets - the Jets GM mentioned recently they have no interest in rentals to improve their D, PK Subban has term left and if the Devils eat some of the salary, they could essentially give PK ' Big Buff's' money. Decent upgrade for the Jets as they try and hold course in the west.

3. Tampa Bay Lightning - Steven Stamkos would love to play with one of his best friends, and if the Devils will eat some of Subban's contract, the Lightning would be willing to make a huge splash this spring.

PK Subban is currently a New Jersey Devil. His 12 points, -16 plus/minus and $9 million dollar contract make him terribly hard to move. The Devils are working the phones to gather their options as the team looks to bounce back next season. The next 12 days will be interesting for PK as he may be filming his latest YouTube video from a new city.
