Report: NHL ready to play games in August

The NHL and the NHLPA continue to compile options on how exactly the rest of this season will look. Should this pandemic give them an opportunity to finish this season, they have been brainstorming hundreds of options for the regular season and the playoffs. Turns out games in August is on the table and something the league is comfortable doing.

According the NHL deputy Bill Daly, who spoke with Nicholas Cotsinka of NHL.com the following was discussed:
I will say it remains our hope, if not our goal, to be playing hockey sooner than then. Depending on how things play out, we'd love to be playing sometime in the spring, and then if we have to leak into early summer, we'd love to have that problem. But I don't think we're far enough along in understanding where this is going to know what's possible at this point in time. We think if we were required to, we might have the ability to play in August. If we have to fit games in, we'll find ways to fit games in.
Great news for the potential of seeing NHL hockey again this season, as the league is prepared to get as creative as possible to finish out the 2019-2020 season.
