Trade Bait: If Buffalo traded Jack Eichel, 3 deals to consider

The Buffalo Sabres have been a hot spot of disappointment the past few seasons. Superstar Jack Eichel has voiced his displeasure at several times over the past couple of seasons, and even when out of his way to make sure ownership knew it wasn't the coaches fault, the players need to be better. If the Sabres come out next season and are still a dismal mess, the Sabres could make some major changes. Today's trade bait is, Sabres centre Jack Eichel.

Eichel has 6 more years on his contract at a AAV of $10 million. However, his no-movement clause doesn't kick in until the 2022-23 season. Eichel currently sits with 78 points in 68 games after coming off his career season of 82 points. Some think Eichel is capable of 50 goals and 100 points, but without a consistent supporting cast, times are tough for the American.

If the Buffalo Sabres traded Jack Eichel before his no-movement clause kicks in, here are 3 deals worth considering:

To the LA Kings for a combination of Gabriel Vilardi, Akil Thomas, and Rasmus Kupari. The Sabres would also need to take a reasonable contract off the hands of the Kings to make the dollars work. The Kings have 7 picks in the first two rounds of the next two drafts, so stocking up the cupboards will be easy. Eichel gives the Kings the young superstar they desperately need, while the Sabres start fresh with some of the best prospects in the game. This deal gives Buffalo a chance to get Eichel as far away from them as possible.

To the Anaheim Ducks for a combination of Sam Steel, Max Jones, Axel Andersson and Trevor Zegras. The Ducks have a ton of top-end prospects to tickle the fancy of the Sabres. Throw in one of their young defenseman and the Sabres could pull the trigger. The Ducks need someone to take the torch from Ryan Getzlaf and Eichel fits the bill. Keep an eye on these two teams over the next year or so.

To the Arizona Coyotes for Barrett Hayton, Victor Soderstrom, and goalie Ivan Prosvetov. This deal gives the Sabres a bluechip for each element of their team. It gives the Coyotes a face of the franchise to ride with Clayton Keller, and who better than a fellow American. The Coyotes are two years away from having hardly anyone signed, so adding a big name will be on the top of their priority list. The Sabres are selling hope with this deal, and we all know they ain't selling tickets, so mid as well sell something.

Jack Eichel is on a fragile hockey club. A team that has tried many different ways and avenues to improve their club and once again, they find themselves outside the postseason. The next move could be moving their best player and starting over. It's a good thing the Sabres don't have their own mafia, cause things could get ugly if Eichel is shipped out.

Be safe out there.
