Vancouver Canucks To Trade Away Brock Boeser

The Vancouver Canucks are finding themselves in a rough spot. The salary cap freeze will prevent them from signing all of their RFA's and UFA's unless they trade away an existing contract. Who will land Brock Boeser?

The 23 year old forward's cap hit is currently $5.875 million per year. The Canucks are limited in cap space and RFA forward Jake Virtanen is expecting a massive increase in salary. Additionally, Jacob Markstrom, Tyler Toffoli, and Chris Tanev are set to become UFA's and need to be resigned.
Loui Eriksson is about 90% of the Canucks' problems. The 34 year old is raking in $6 million per season and is certainly not living up to his end of the bargain. The worst part being that he has a no move clause and still has two more seasons on the books (not that any team would be willing to absorb this contract). Another problem is Roberto Luongo's recapture penalty is currently $3.03 million per year. The Canucks' have roughly $9 million in dead cap space.

According to Matthew Sekeres of TSN 1040, the Vancouver Canucks' are testing the market for Brock Boeser. Some believe the team should instead allow Tyler Toffoli to walk in free agency in order to keep Boeser.

What do you think, Canucks fans?
