Rumor: Calgary Flames To Acquire Dominant Goaltender

Darcy Kuemper has emerged as a dominant starting goaltender in the last few years. The Arizona Coyotes have a reliable 1A-1B goalie tandem, but the phones have been off the hook for Kuemper. The Coyotes are reportedly listening to offers and are willing to pull the trigger with the right team.
The Calgary Flames have had relatively poor goaltending this season. Neither David Rittich or Cam Talbot have stepped up to the occasion and are likely to be shipped off during the offseason. The Flames are the current frontrunners to land Kuemper, although the San Jose Sharks and Chicago Blackhawks are rumored to be interested as well.

Kuemper may be 30 years old, but he has proven himself to be reliable and dominate in high pressure games. He has a 55-38-15 record with 11 shutouts and a .924 save percentage since the 2017-18 season. He also finished fifth in Vezina Trophy voting last year, but injuries prevented him from consideration this season. With just two seasons left on his contract with a cap hit of $4.5 million, pursuing Kuemper is a no brainer.
