Vancouver Canucks Make Surprise Signing!

The Vancouver Canucks have signed Braden Holtby to a two-year deal, worth $4.3 million per season. The move comes as a touch of a surprise as the team was expected to bring back last season's success story, Jacob Markstrom.

With Holtby, the Canucks bring in a Stanley Cup winner, a veteran presence, and someone who can push Thatcher Demko for the starter's minutes.

Holtby appeared in 48 games last year for the Capitals, where he's spent the last 10 seasons.

If Holtby can return to his elite form, this move will pay huge dividends for the Canucks, who are a young team with a ton of potential. Knowing they are now out of the Oliver Ekman-Larsson sweepstakes, look for the team to try and find another defenseman on the market.

Their goaltending situation has now been resolved.
