Auston Matthews Gets Roasted On Social Media For Being "Too Soft"

Player agent Jeff Jackson represents superstar players such as Connor McDavid and Auston Matthews. He has stated that the NHL must do more to protect star players after Matthews received several cross checks to the back against the Montreal Canadiens. Hockey Twitter is now roasting the young star.

It doesn't appear that Matthews himself is whining or that he asked his agent to make this statement. However, Jackson's statement set the hockey community on fire.

"Great to see NHL hockey back. Such amazing athletes and so much speed and skill in the game now. But watching the abuse that star players take is hard to watch. Felt like the 80's with the cross checks in the back and the hacking and slashing. NFL protects QB's, why don't we?"

Although Jackson received significant backlash, most of the attention was given to Matthews. It was also mostly Montreal Canadiens fans comparing Brendan Gallagher's toughness to Auston Matthews' alleged weakness.
