Canadiens Defenceman Demands Trade

There have been two trade demands made today. One by Sam Bennett of the Calgary Flames and another by Victor Mete of the Montreal Canadiens. Both players are represented by agent Darren Ferris.

Mete has not had an opportunity to play this season. He is a young and promising defenceman at just 22 years old, but the Canadiens depth chart has rendered him a healthy scratch. His frustration is not unreasonable and the Canadiens depth have made them a dangerous team to this point.

Agent Darren Ferris confirmed the trade request was made, but GM Marc Bergevin claimed this was untrue and that Mete will not be traded. Further reports have indicated that Bergevin may be withholding the truth in order to maintain leverage in immediate trade talks. Others believe he wants to retain Mete and convince him to stay.
