Maple Leafs Forward Placed on Waivers

The Toronto Maple Leafs know they have one of the deepest rosters they have had in years as the coaching staff split the team up before training camp even begun. The roster was divided into two groups and group A was essentially their team.

It's going to be extremely hard for anyone from group B to make the team, and it's likely going to come down to injuries for opportunity. Forward Nic Petan found out the hard way today as the versatile forward was placed on waivers by the team.

The 25-year-old Petan, appeared in 16 games with the big club last season, recording three assists and was way more productive for the AHL's Marlies where he finished 25 games with 31 points.

Unfortunately Petan is best suited for an offensive role and the Leafs are likely to give first crack at their top six forwards to Nick Robertson instead.
