3 New Jersey Devils Most Likely to be Traded

The New Jersey Devils sit on the outside looking in at the playoff picture in the East division and the team is going to be sellers before the NHL's trade deadline on April 12. While they certainly have a good mix of veterans and young roster players, it could be a little bit of both heading out of town.

Here's 3 Devils who are most likely to be traded before the deadline:

Miles Wood, LW

Wood is a beast and is currently having a fine season with 10 goals and 14 points in 33 games. His game is built on speed and physicality and Wood has the ability to play up-and-down the lineup with ease. At 25-years-old and with next season left on his contract at a reasonable $2.75 million on the cap, there's a ton of interest in acquiring Wood from playoff bound teams. The Boston Bruins, Toronto Maple Leafs and Edmonton Oilers are three teams to look out for here.

Ryan Murray, LHD

Murray is a pending free-agent who has been just 'ok' so far in his first season with the Devils. Murray's numbers will never jump off the page but he's at his best when you don't notice him out there. He's collected four assists in 25 games and there's going to be a market for 'renting' Murray for the rest of the season. At $4.6 million on the cap, expect teams to wait until the last possible moment to bring him in on their books and look for the Devils to retain some of Murray's salary. Teams are going to overpay with assets if it means New Jersey eats some money.

Kyle Palmieri, RW

It's a toss up between Palmieri and P.K Subban for the third spot, but because of Palmieri's contract talks currently going nowhere, he was selected as #3. The 30-year-old winger can play in the top-6 and provide a playoff team with some secondary scoring punch. He's recorded 16 points in 32 games and the Boston Bruins and New York Islanders are going to have a bidding war should he be made available for trade.

The Devils were expected to be in the playoff picture this season but after the year started with Corey Crawford retiring, the team never seemed to be healthy at the same time or meet expectations on the ice. Now management is going to try and re-tool on the fly and hope next year is a different story for the Devils.
