Dylan Larkin is the Only Untouchable on Red Wings Roster

Detroit Red Wings General Manager Steve Yzerman has a lot on his plate. When he took over in 2019, his goal was - and remains - to make the team he won three Stanely Cups with competitive once again.

The Red Wings 25-year playoff streak came to an end in 2015-16, and the team amassed four Stanley Cups during that time. But more recently, they have been perennial basement dwellers in the National Hockey League standings.

That means this current roster is ripe for the picking. Contending teams looking to add for the playoff push will come calling, and the Red Wings are selling off all assets except for one player: Dylan Larkin.

Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman says the 24-year-old speedster and captain of the team is untouchable. This makes sense as Larkin is a player Yzerman wants to build a team around.

Others, however, won't be around to see the rebuild take place.

Names popping up on the trade radar around the league include Bobby Ryan, Marc Staal, Tyler Bertuzzi, Luke Glendening, Patrik Nemeth, Christian Djoos, Anthony Mantha and Jonathan Bernier.

The destruction of the team's underwhelming roster will not happen all at once. Yzerman will look to bring in a good mix of picks and prospects to build around and down the road, likely look to add veteran pieces for presence in the locker room.
