Sabres GM Comments on Potential Jack Eichel Trade & Team's Struggles

The Buffalo Sabres held a 'state of the franchise' press conference on Friday and let's just say general manager Kevyn Adams didn't have too many nice things to say about his team.

The Sabres welcomed several new additions this offseason and a new bench boss in hopes of turning things around and it's been anything but. Captain Jack Eichel trade rumors have been running wild as team's contact the Sabres about his availability, Taylor Hall can't find the back of the net, and head coach Ralph Krueger has scratched a $9 million player three times.

Adams wasn't shy with his comments and had this to say about his 6-12-3 team:

I'm angry. I would hope all of you are. I would hope all our fans are because that means you care. ... I've been empowered by Terry and Kim Pegula to fix this and that's what I'm going to do. Everything is being evaluated. (Krueger) understands the situation we're in is unacceptable. The players do. Everybody does. It's just flat-out not good enough.

At this point, Eichel has not demanded a trade but we can all see the writing on the wall from the parking lot. Eichel and Hall have only two goals a piece and if the Sabres have any hope in hell they need to pick up their production.  And while Skinner has been scratched for obvious reasons, his one assist in 18 games is not acceptable when you're making 11% of your team's salary cap.

If the Sabres don't get back to some stable ground by April 12th, expect at least a few changes of their depth players. Trading a superstar doesn't appear in the cards at this point this season but this offseason could be a whole new ball game.
