Video: Kings' Grosenick Gets Spot Start, Wins 1st Game in SIX Years!

31-year-old goaltender Troy Grosenick is not a household name but Wednesday night in Anaheim that didn't matter for the Los Angeles Kings, the team had no choice but to play him. Grosenick was called into the Kings' crease after backup tender Cal Peterson made his way to the COVID-protocol list shortly before the game.

Considering Grosenick's NHL experience consists of two games for the San Jose Sharks during the 2014-15 season, it was a bit of a gamble for the Kings. It paid off with flying colors.

Some game notes from Wednesday night's matchup between the Ducks and Kings:

Adrian Kempe scored two goals and Troy Grosenick made 33 saves in his first NHL appearance in nearly 6 1/2 years, leading the Los Angeles Kings past the Anaheim Ducks 5-1 on Wednesday night. Grosenick's six years and 112 days between wins comprised the seventh-longest stretch between regular-season victories in NHL history. Grosenick's last game came with the Sharks who were then coached by Kings coach Todd McLellan.
Finding out late, honestly, I don’t think it really matters too much for me. It’s the same thing. Take the next shot as it comes. If you’re prepared for anything, things don’t take you by surprise as much.

Here's the highlights from Grosenick's first win in a very long time:
