Washington Capitals Targeting Veteran Goaltender in Trades

According to Frank Seravalli of TSN, the Washington Capitals are likely to target a veteran goaltender as we approach the April 12th trade deadline.

The Capitals have the talent up front to make some noise in the playoffs and will need some stability in their crease down the stretch. At the moment, the Capitals have Ilya Samsonov and Vitek Vanecek who are both young netminders with a combined zero playoff appearances. Samsonov is coming off having COVID-19 and Vanecek only has 18 career NHL games under his belt.

One trade candidate to keep an eye on here is San Jose Sharks goaltender, Devan Dubnyk. The 34-year-old veteran is currently on a bad Sharks team that's going to miss the playoffs and could provide the Caps with some more stability and experience. His 555 career games has included some his pressure situation and so far in nine appearances his numbers haven't been great but comparing the Capitals and Sharks is like comparing apples to oranges.
