Calgary Flames Shopping for Right-Shot RW via Trades

The Calgary Flames have weird predicament with their forward group, almost everyone shoots left-handed. Center/right winger Elias Lindholm is the only forward in the top-six that shoots right, and according to multiple hockey insiders, the team is in the trade market for a right-shooting right-winger.

The Flames played on Thursday night and were victorious over the Ottawa Senators 7-3, but then news dropped they fired head coach Geoff Ward and replaced him with Darryl Sutter. The team currently sits in 21st in the league with a 11-11-2 record and if they want to make the playoffs in the North division, they will need to keep pace. They are two points back of the Montreal Canadiens for a top-four spot.

Some Potential Fits Include Familiar Faces

As for trade targets an obvious choice is Vancouver Canuck Jake Virtanen. He's been on the trade block for months and a swap of Sam Bennett for Virtanen could work. The Flames already added Josh Leivo, Chris Tanev and Jacob Markstrom this season from the Canucks so what's one more, right?

Viktor Arvidsson of the Nashville Predators is someone who would upgrade their group. The Predators are listening to offers on all but three players so perhaps if the Flames sent Bennett and some to Nashville, the Preds would consider. So far this season the 27-year-old winger has 11 points in 23 games.

Two More Options from Motown

Sam Gagner and Bobby Ryan of the Detroit Red Wings are two other options who can slide into the Flames lineup at an affordable price. While Ryan could give you top-six minutes and Gagner could provide some more depth down your lineup.

Keep an eye on the Flames. They fired their head coach late Thursday night and now a trade is next from the transaction happy Brad Treliving.
