Rumor: Carolina Hurricanes Trying to Complete Blockbuster Trade

According to Elliotte Friedman and Chris Johnston of Sportsnet the Carolina Hurricanes are a team to watch as we approach the NHL's trade deadline. The two insiders see the Hurricanes as an organization with bold management and ownership who are trying to complete a home-run deal to make their team better for this season.

While the two insiders didn't name names, there's been some rumblings about Patrik Laine of the Columbus Blue Jackets. Carolina was one of the many teams who made offers for Laine out of Winnipeg, and given Laine hasn't enjoyed his time as a Blue Jacket to this point, there's certainly some potential a deal could get completed.

If the Blue Jackets are going to give up on Laine this early, it would certainly need to be for a legit NHL center coming back the other way and the Hurricanes could offer Vincent Trocheck. The 27-year-old is having himself a fine season with 29 points in 28 games and is signed through next season, which would be very appealing for the Blue Jackets. Laine would be able to be paired up with close friend Sebastian Aho, and the Jackets would have a legit #1 center.

The trade winds are blowing and the Hurricanes have been named a team to watch for a huge deal. Let's see if Carolina can add to their bunch of jerks before 3pm eastern on April 12th.
