Shocking News: The Buffalo Sabres Have Been Eliminated from Playoff Contention

The Buffalo Sabres have become the punchline of the NHL this season and the joke continued as the team was the first to be eliminated from playoff contention. This came after the Sabres lost 3-2 to the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday.

This becomes the 10th season in a row the Sabres have missed the playoffs and after general manager Kevyn Adams made a ton of changes last offseason and in season this campaign. While nothing has appeared to work at this point, expect to see more changes coming in Buffalo this summer. Rumblings have surfaced that Jack Eichel wants out and has no interest returning to the team next season.

Buffalo has 12 games remaining on their schedule and sit with 29 points. Even worse is the fact they may end up with a top-pick at the next draft, however this season has been like no other and it's going to be very tough to evaluate talent of junior hockey players. Unfortunately Sabres' fans are losing faith in their organization and aren't expecting the team to pick a stud.

Look for the team to sign Linus Ullmark to a long-term extension as at least it looks like they found their goaltender of the future. As for every other position...who knows at this point.
