John Tortorella Finished with Columbus Blue Jackets

As we have been sharing for weeks, John Tortorella won't be back as head coach of the Columbus Blue Jackets. Aaron Portzline of The Athletic confirmed the news after the Blue Jackets defeated the Detroit Red Wings in their final game of the season on Saturday night.

Tortorella informed the organization earlier this week that he would not be returning to the club when his contract expires, so you can put to bed the 'Torts was fired' reports. He's been the Blue Jackets bench boss for six seasons, leading the team to a 227-166-54 records, reaching the playoffs four times, including one trip to the second round.

This season it's been a nightmare from the get-go as Torts was in the news numerous times for how he was benching players and calling others out. It certainly felt like Torts lost the dressing room and players were sick of his tough-love style. This season the Jackets finished last in the Central Division, going 18-26-12.

John Tortorella won't be out of a job very long if he intends to keep working in the NHL. Wonder if Torts has ever been to Seattle?
