One Trade Offer the Buffalo Sabres Declined for Jack Eichel

The Buffalo Sabres have captain Jack Eichel on their current roster but by the sounds of it, don't expect that to be the case come next season. Turns out the Sabres have been fielding trade calls for almost a year now, and before the beginning of last season, declined an offer from the New York Rangers.

The deal was believed to be prospect heavy and included one first-round pick, meanwhile the Sabres wanted Adam Fox included in the trade and the talks ended there.

While there's recently been a ton of changes in the Big Apple, expect new President and General Manager of the Rangers, Chris Drury to circle back on the deal. The Rangers have a tremendous amount of interest in Eichel and apparently rock star owner James Dolan is looking for a splash this upcoming offseason. The Sabres have never been closer to moving Eichel as the team continues it's downward spiral. Eichel has voiced his displeasure in the past and is sick and tired of all the losing.

The Rangers are rumored to be open to moving some big names including youngsters like Kaapo Kakko, K'Andre Miller off their current roster or Zachary Jones, and Matthew Robertson from their prospect pool. The team also has Henrik Lundqvist and Kevin Shattenkirk's buyouts that decrease significantly next season, opening up more cap space. The Rangers will be amongst the league leaders with over $24 million in cap space, which is more than enough room for Eichel and his $10 million AAV.

These two teams have been rumored to be connected on this deal for almost two seasons now and it appears it's not going away anytime soon. Eichel to the Rangers, appears to be just a matter of time.
