Trade Rumor: Flyers and Wild Discussing Big Trade

The Minnesota Wild and Philadelphia Flyers have reportedly been in contact over a trade involving defenseman Matt Dumba from the Wild heading to Philly. Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman points out the familiarity of Flyers general manager Chuck Fletcher with Dumba is a part of why they have interest.

The 26-year-old Dumba has two more years left on his contract, paying him $6 million per season. The Flyers are trying to find a right-handed defenseman to compliment their group and adding an offensive threat like the Wild's defenseman would be a huge boost to their team.

One name the Wild have interest in is Travis Konecny. The 24-year-old versatile winger is coming to his own in Philly and would be a great fit in Minnesota to play with Kirill Kaprizov. While a one-for-one swap may be out of the question here, if the Wild sweeten to pot just a touch with a mid-level prospect, there could certainly be some traction with these trade talks.

Keep an eye on these two teams, they both will be active this offseason. The Wild are looking for forwards to slot into their top-six group, while the Flyers are desperate for a solid defenseman, preferably right-handed.
