Brandon Saad Is Heading To The St. Louis Blues

After losing both Mike Hoffman and Jaden Schwartz to free agency, it became clear that the St. Louis Blues needed to add a top-six winger. They have now succeeded in their efforts, as they have signed Brandon Saad to a five-year contract. It will carry a $4.5 million cap each season.

Saad is a very solid two-way forward who can play in all situations. Not only will he be a member of the Blues' power play, but he very well should be getting penalty kill time, too. He also comes with a lot of experience, as he is a two-time Stanley Cup winner and has over 600 career games under his belt.

In 44 games this season with the Colorado Avalanche, the 28-year-old winger scored 15 goals and recorded 24 points. That kind of goal scoring should be greatly appreciated in St. Louis.

Ultimately, the Blues got a very good winger and did not have to pay as much as one would have expected. St. Louis simply did a great job with this one.
