Rumor: St Louis Blues Have Tons of Interest in Gabriel Landeskog

The St Louis Blues are chomping at the bit to make a pitch to Gabriel Landeskog of the Colorado Avalanche and when they get the opportunity, it sounds like it's going to be the pitch of a life time.

According to NHL.com's Lou Korac the team is prepared to give a "full pitch effort" as the team is very familiar with the intangibles the Avalanche captain could bring to their team. The Avs are not going down without a fight, and that's with any team with interest. General manager Joe Sakic has $25 million to work with this summer, and while goaltender Philipp Grubauer also needs a new contract, the team is prepared to give Landeskog a raise from his $5.57 million cap hit last season.

The Blues are undergoing drastic changes this season as it sounds like they are looking to hit reset on their culture. They're ready to let go a long list of pending free agents and continue to talk to other teams regarding a Vladimir Tarasenko trade. The long-time Blue informed the team he prefers to play elsewhere next season and the team agreed that was a good idea.

As for Landeskog he's spent a decade in Colorado and has recorded 512 points in 687 games. At 28, a captain with a ton of valuable qualities and near a point-a-game production, St Louis better hope their full pitch takes the cake. They should expect a ton of company at the table.
