Tampa Bay Lightning Extend Young Forward

The Tampa Bay Lightning have signed forward Alex Barre-Boulet to a three-year contract. It will have an average annual value of $758,333.

Barre-Boulet has been a dominant player in the AHL over the last three seasons and now stands a real shot of making the Lightning permanently. Tampa Bay has lost a handful of key forwards this off-season and have some holes in their lineup. Last season with the Syracuse Crunch, he scored eight goals and recorded 12 points in just 10 games. He also had 56 points in 60 games the season before with them.

Barre-Boulet also suited up for the Lightning in 15 games this season and scored three goals. When looking at his success in the AHL, it seems that he has the potential to take that next big step. He is still just 23-years-old and is only getting better from here.

We will see what he is able to do next season if given a chance to be a regular NHLer.
