The Edmonton Oilers Are Buying Out James Neal

The Edmonton Oilers are set to buyout forward James Neal. This is not all that shocking, as the possibility of this happening has been discussed all off-season.

Neal had two years left on his contract and it carried a $5.75 million cap hit. When he signed his contract during the 2018 off-season with the Calgary Flames, he was viewed as a top-six forward. However, things have changed drastically since then. In 29 games this season with the Oilers, the 33-year-old winger had five goals and 10 points in 29 games.

On a cheap contract, Neal could be a nice addition for a team looking to add some depth scoring. We will see if he gets the chance to play his 14th NHL season soon.
